cross your fingers

Knock on wood, throw salt over your shoulder, hang a horseshoe over the door, avoid black cats, ladders, and cracks in the sidewalks or whatever other superstitions you may have to bring good luck. The baby slept through the night.

As in, we put her down at 8:30 and I woke her up this morning a little past six to get ready to get out the door. I have no idea if it was anything we did or just a fact of her getting older or something completely random.

When I got up, I assumed that Rhiannon had, at some point during the night, woke up and fed her before I ever heard anything. It's happened before and I'm sure it will happen again. By the time Rhiannon got up, Brooklynn was starting to grunt a little and wake up on her own, so we didn't do the new parents rush in to the nursery to make sure the baby was still breathing thing, but still...

Perhaps Brooklynn upgraded operating systems over the weekend like I did on our home computers, or perhaps our weekend night of revelry (more to come in the future on this) reset her system enough that she can go for long stretches at a time. I even hear that she has taken a few longer naps during the day at daycare.

Whoever this new late model baby is that is in our house, we're thinking of hanging on to her and hoping the behavior continues more often than not. Wish on a shooting star or something for us.
