what we're missing

When we decided to cancel our cable service a few weeks ago, we did consider the networks we would be losing (like the Food Network and ESPN).  Those channels that we didn't watch all the time but still, they were on enough to be missed. Well, I considered ESPN, but I didn't give much thought to the fact that I wouldn't be able to watch Monday Night Football games without it.  This is something that I've been doing for a long time.  I remember when I was little and my parents finally let me stay up and watch the games.  (I also remember them being gone on a Monday night and I was suppose to be in bed by a certain time.  Yeah, I was up watching the game right up until I heard the garage door open.  I can't get in trouble anymore for admitting that now, can I?)

Anyway, the point is, for the last two weeks, I haven't watched a football game on Monday night.  This is probably the first time that I have missed two consecutive entire games in years.

And I didn't really miss it that much.  If you consider the fact that at one point in my life I could watch football for two days straight over the weekend and nearly every night, I guess one more game doesn't seem like a big deal not to watch.  And 5 or 10 years ago, I would never had admitted that that fact would be true.

This whole "growing-up" thing is weird.
