Rhiannon and I get up relatively early on the weekdays. I don’t remember any time in my life before this past year that I have ever seen quite as much darkness in the mornings. That being said, we still enjoy sleeping in on the weekends. I think there is something nice about waking up, thinking that on almost any other day I would already be at work, and laying back down to sleep for a little while longer. We’re trying to avoid the situation where we’re getting up on Monday morning a full 6 hours earlier than the previous day.
We got a little extreme with the not getting up quite as late plan this past Sunday. The weather was nice. Easter was late in the year. We figured it would be a good time to attend the outdoor sunrise service at the Red Rocks Amphitheater. I don’t know exactly what we were thinking. Yes, it was nice, but gates opened at 4:30 in the A-freakin’-M. We were on the road before five in the morning. I get up early on weekdays, but this was a little over the top.
We wear our sunglasses at night.
Even so, I’m glad we went. It was a little chilly, a little early, but we really have nothing to complain about. If we had the same weather from Saturday, we would have been rained on. The view over the city as the sun came up was worth the early morning.
Don't look directly into the sun!
And roughly 10,000 other people were just as crazy as we were.
Why does everyone look tired?
